BARDOT Brasserie – Las Vegas, NV

BARDOT Brasserie Review – From the moment we first stepped into Michael Mina’s BARDOT Brasserie, a cute French bistro tucked into a corner next door to Jean George Steak House on the second-floor Promenade level of the Aria Hotel, we knew we were going to become regulars.  Was it the beautiful bar? Or the French accordionist serenading the guests? The crusty french bread? Actually, I think it was the “Everlasting Champagne” that accompanied an amazing menu.  Who doesn’t find themselves three sheets to the wind in Vegas at noon at least once in their lives?

Decor

The entire restaurant is fashioned in a classic but modern French bistro setting. Rustic treatments, artwork, and gold splash the walls tastefully and not overbearingly so. The bar itself is such a showpiece I had to include a picture of it to show the grandeur of the bar. The seating was surprisingly comfortable and after half a dozen visits over the past year, we haven’t felt any seat/table was ‘bad’.

Food

After several visits to Bardot, and having had many of the menu items, we have yet to find a dish we didn’t like, much less love.  Something as simple as a Smoked Salmon Plate is executed so well, that it sets a whole new standard. Here are some of our favorites, albeit not an all-inclusive list:

Foie Gras Parfait

Recently I’ve discovered a newfound love of Foie Gras, and this parfait was a surprise to me. I usually love a grilled Foie Gras alone or atop a steak. Although Foie Gras parfaits are a classic preparation, I had never really tried, until Bardot. The flavor of the Foie Gras mellowed the sweetness of the port gelee so that spreading atop crusty grilled sliced bread felt so natural.

Smoked Salmon

Bardot executes smoked salmon better- just better. Not only are the ingredients fresh and of high quality, but more importantly, the seasoning and flavors are so well balanced that it just tastes better. There’s no other way that I can really describe it any better. The smoked salmon plate is loaded with smoked salmon, sliced brioche, chive mascarpone, cherry tomatoes, avocado, and traditional garnishes. Sipping champagne while noshing on these gems make the day so great!

Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Salad

The beet and goat cheese salad has made me love beets again. After I first had this salad, I immediately added beets to my grocery list. I already love goat cheese, but the caña de cabra cheese in this salad was like goat brie, or bucheron. The creaminess of the cheese and bite of the beets were all carefully balanced with the wild arugula, hazelnuts, and mild vinaigrette. I’ve also added hazelnuts to my grocery list to throw on my salads!

There are too many other great dishes that can be had at BARDOT that I haven’t listed here. Go and try them – whether it be brunch or dinner, you won’t go wrong here.

Service

An additional highlight of Bardot is their consistently high level and quality of service. We have been there on weekdays, weekends, brunch, dinner, holidays, and off days. Every visit has been met with just the right amount of attentiveness while maintaining excellent service.
